Before you buy — no surprises on install day

Will it work with my setup?

Short answer: almost certainly yes — and every trial can start on a First Signal number and page with zero changes to anything you own. This page is the honest list: what works out of the box, what needs a 60-second tweak, and the few setups where the right answer is a switch. We'd rather tell you now than on install day.

The safety valve, up front: no matter what phone company, website, or email you're on, your trial can start on schedule using a First Signal trial number and (if needed) a hosted trial page — nothing to change, nothing to cancel, no passwords ever. The rows below only matter when we wire up your number, your site, and your inbox.

Your phone system

The Phone Agent works by missed-call forwarding: your phone rings like it always has — the agent only picks up the calls you don't. That takes a standard feature called conditional call forwarding. Here's where it stands, carrier by carrier:

You're on…StatusWhat to know
Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile (business cell)WORKS60-second setting we walk you through on install day. iPhone users: we'll switch off one voicemail feature that can grab calls first.
Comcast Business, Xfinity Voice, Spectrum Business, FiosWORKSStandard forwarding codes, set from your phone. Spectrum sometimes needs the feature switched on in your online account first.
RingCentral, Nextiva, Ooma Office, Vonage, Dialpad, GrasshopperWORKSSet in your admin portal — we do it with you on the install call. A couple of these need one permission toggled first; we know which.
Mint MobileWORKSStandard forwarding codes, verified on their own help pages.
Cricket, Metro, Straight Talk & other prepaid brandsVERIFIED AT INSTALLUsually works, but prepaid carriers are inconsistent — some lines need a free add-on enabled, and some Straight Talk SIMs can't forward at all. We test yours with a live call before your clock starts; if it can't, your trial runs on a First Signal number instead.
Traditional copper landline (CenturyLink, Frontier, regional)VERIFIED AT INSTALLThe feature exists but often has to be switched on by your carrier (a quick call from the account owner; some charge a small fee). We'll tell you exactly what to ask for.
magicJack, OpenPhoneDEPENDS ON PLANBusiness tiers support it; consumer/starter tiers don't. We check your plan during onboarding.
Google Voice (free or Workspace)NEEDS A SWITCHGoogle Voice has no missed-call forwarding to outside numbers — on any tier. Your trial still starts on time using a First Signal number; for the permanent setup, we help you move the number to a supported provider (it's portable, and we handle the walkthrough).

Three things we say out loud

  • The agent replaces your voicemail for missed calls. That's the point — a caller reaches a helpful assistant instead of a beep — but you should know it before we flip it on. Flip it back anytime with one code.
  • Forwarded calls are included on most unlimited plans. On older metered plans, the forwarded leg can use minutes — we'll flag it if your plan is one of them.
  • Every install ends with a live test call. Your 14-day clock doesn't start until you've heard it work yourself.

Your website (for the Chat Agent)

If you (or your web person) can paste one line of code into your site — WordPress, Squarespace, Wix, Shopify, Webflow, custom, all fine — the chat agent installs in minutes. If your site is locked down or your web person is on a fishing trip, we host a First Signal trial page with your services and the agent on it, and your trial runs there. Nobody's website has ever blocked a trial.

Your CRM

HubSpot, GoHighLevel, Jobber, Housecall Pro, ServiceTitan, Salesforce, Zoho, Airtable, Google Sheets — we connect during your install, using each system's own lead-intake door. No CRM at all? Every trial includes the First Signal Trial CRM, a clean lead board set up for you. This one is never a blocker.

Your email (only if you add the Email Agent)

Phone and chat trials don't touch your email at all. This section only matters if you later add the Email Agent (part of the Sales Team plan) — an AI teammate that reads and answers lead emails from your own address.

You're on…StatusWhat to know
Google Workspace or GmailWORKSConnected same-day with Google's own secure app-access — you stay in control, we never see your password.
Yahoo / AOL / Turbify, Zoho (paid), IONOS, iCloud custom domain, your web host's emailWORKSSame-day via each provider's secure app access. Host-based email sometimes needs a deliverability tune-up — we do it as part of the install.
Microsoft 365 / OutlookONE APPROVAL CLICKMicrosoft requires connecting through their official sign-in with an admin approval — for most small businesses, the admin is you, and it's one click we do together.
GoDaddy emailSETUP CALL REQUIREDIt's Microsoft 365 under the hood, but GoDaddy-managed accounts sometimes block the approval step. We test yours on day zero; if it's blocked, there's a documented fix — or a quick move to regular Microsoft 365.
Comcast / Spectrum email addressWORKS, BUT…Connectable with one settings toggle. Honest advice though: your business email shouldn't die with your cable contract. We'll recommend (and handle) a move to your own domain — from about $1–7/month.
Proton MailNEEDS A SWITCHProton's encryption design blocks outside apps by default — great for privacy, incompatible with an AI teammate in the inbox. The fix: business mail moves to Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, or Zoho on your same domain; keep Proton for personal.

Running the business off a personal @gmail or @yahoo address? It connects fine on day one — and we'll gently push you toward email on your own domain (about $1–7/user/month, we handle the move). It looks better on every reply your agent sends.

Your roadmap — where this goes

  1. Day 0Pick your trial & onboard. One guided form, 20–30 minutes, no passwords. This page's checks happen here, so install day has zero surprises.
  2. One business day laterYour agent is installed. Built from your answers, connected to your CRM, wired into your Signal Room.
  3. The testYou approve the first Signal. We run the test scenarios together — including a live call or chat you watch land. Only then does your 14-day clock start.
  4. Days 1–14Live on your real leads. Every lead captured, qualified, logged, and posted to your Signal Room — with a brief every morning.
  5. Day 11Your results and reminder. We send your trial end date, results, exact first-charge date, and amount.
  6. Day 14The scoreboard. Signals captured, hot leads, missed calls recovered, estimated pipeline. Cancel before the trial ends to pay nothing.
  7. After day 14Flawless continuation. Unless you cancelled, the same agent keeps working at $99/mo for one channel or $198/mo for phone + chat.
  8. When you're readyGrow the roster. Add the second channel ($198/mo covers both, briefed daily), then follow-up, booking, and email with the full Sales Team — same system, more of it working for you.
And a real person is in the room the whole way. Our AI agents answer your leads — but your Signal Room comes with a human in it: First Signal Agents' founder is a member of every client's Slack channel. Question at 9pm? Something looks off? Want to tweak what the agent says? Post it in your Signal Room and a real person answers — no ticket queue, no support bot pretending otherwise. AI does the work. A human has your back.
